Three Intrusions comprises three distinct yet co-relational poetic sequences which meditate on the ephemerality of human nature while descending toward ancient dedicatory relationships at the heart of a tantric/sutric “Original Face.” Inspired by Dzogchen teachings that form Arya Tara’s universal compassion, this book celebrates her boundless receptivity. She is the great female Buddha in major and minor cosmologies from the Vajrayana. Born from Avalokiteshvara’s teardrop, as he wept over humanity’s endless stream of suffering, her selfless act of carrying Avalokiteshvara’s incomplete and disrupted, “intruded upon,” total compassion for all sentient beings exemplifies our own limitless capacity for Bodhicitta. As the Mother of Buddhas, Tara synthesizes what primordial buddhas represent. She embodies a guiding light for liberation, unreservedly remembering her refusal to conform her figure to that of a male buddha. Tara remains in her natural state of awakened heart-mind, listening for sentient beings’ needs and freeing them from Samsara, until the very end of time.
